Sad news for Starburst lolly lovers as popular sweets discontinued

It's a sad day for Australian lolly lovers today with confirmation Starburst confectionary products will no longer be sold here.

"Like many businesses that are importing products from overseas, the brand has been exposed to supply chain difficulties and rising cost pressures over the last two years," a Mars Wrigley spokesperson told 9News.com.au.

"After reviewing all options, we've made the difficult decision to discontinue the brand in Australia from June 2022."

The company said it would "prioritise" the production of locally-made treats like M&Ms, Maltesers, Skittles, Snickers, Extra and Eclipse.

Rumours began swirling earlier this week when Sydney woman Nariman Dein shared a on social media in which she explained she was having trouble finding her favourite sweets.

The distraught woman reached out to her TikTok followers for help to locate her favourite treat. TikTok

"Can someone tell me where these lollies went?' she asked in the video shared on her TikTok channel under the username @narmian. "I've been looking everywhere - Big W, Coles, whatever - these lollies don't exist.

"And I am having some sort of conspiracy theory did they just stop selling them and no one realised? If some one knows please let me know."

Her TikTok followers said they were also having trouble finding them.

"Literally no other lollies compare to Starburst," one said.

"Omg the babies were my favourite!!!!' OK I need to know where they disappeared to," added another.

"I LOVE THOSE LOLLIES BUT THEY STOPPED SELLING THEM LIKE WHAT WHY," one said.

Her video has been viewed over 273,000 times and has received over 1,000 comments.

Many said they had heard the entire line had been discontinued in Australia so for those who did find stock, they'd better grab all they can.

Although a quick Google search by 9Honey has found stores of Starburst products at some supermarkets as well as discount websites such as Catch.
