'One-in-a-billion' egg found in WA backyard is now selling for $800
Sibi Moothedan was elated when he noticed one of his chickens had laid a perfectly round egg on Wednesday morning.
The phenomena, said to have a one-in-a-billion chance of happening, surprised the Western Australian chicken owner.
"I was about to cook an omelette and noticed the egg had quite a peculiar shape," the Westminster local tells 9Honey Kitchen exclusively.
"So I sent some pictures to family and friends and decided not to eat it yet."

Further joy kicked in when Moothedan learned of the price tag potentially attached to such an egg.
"Later on, I googled round eggs and found that the chance of it appearing is one in a billion, and the last one found had sold for over $1400!" he says.
After finding the egg, he decided not to eat it and to instead test his luck and sell it online.
"It is currently listed on Gumtree, eBay and Marketplace with a few offers already," he says of the egg, currently listed for $800.

"Perfectly round egg layed by backyard chicken," reads the caption of his listing which has been viewed over 50 times and even offers shipping as an option.
"One in a billion chance of being laid."

Moothedan has owned chickens for around five years, but this new batch, which he's owned for "about one year", has proven most rewarding.
Aussies have been quite lucky when it comes to eggs this year, with another perfectly round egg spotted in a Victorian supermarket earlier this year.
