Nigella Lawson says she's eating 250 grams of chocolate each day now she's in lockdown at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, and she's not the only one turning to the sweet treat for comfort.

Lawson, 60, tweeted: "All I can do is eat chocolate at the moment. I'm on a 250g bar a night at the moment. And rising," adding the hash tag #fattenthecurve.

The tweet has been shared 1,600 times and received over 30,000 'likes' on the celebrity chef's popular Twitter account, which has 2.6 million followers.

Since Lawson made her admission from her home in London, her followers have confessed to their own isolation eating habits, with chocolate featuring in most of them.

"I'm on a pack of Ritter Sport Salted Almond and a quarter bottle of gin per night. So far so good," one follower said.

"I hear you...the struggle is real," said another, who posted a photo of a Snickers bar.

UK broadcaster and author Sali Hughes also contributed to the feed, saying: "I cannot stop eating. Hoping to be alive come autumn. But knowing that if I am, I'll be weighty."

This is where I must confess I am eating a similar amount, except mine is Cadbury Hazelnut chocolate.

A quick survey of 9Honey staff revealed they are eating nuts, chips, pretzels, bread, grapes, cake as well as drinking a lot of chai and coffee as they work from home.
