Nando's fans confused by cryptic napkin riddles

Fancy a cheeky riddle with your Nando's?

Nando's UK has left fans perplexed after serving up some cryptic riddles with their famous Portuguese chicken.

The fan-favourite fast food chain released a new range of napkins printed with a mind-bending word game.

The company shared pictures of the new napkins on Instagram

The three napkins are printed with odd phrases that seem like typos.

The first reads "pear eyes old ted chirpse", the second: "fear nope eater" and the third: "hello mystique sand deep".

Captioning the post "what you saying?", Nando's UK challenged fans to piece together the puzzle.

Fans on social media shared their confusion to the company's confusing move.

"Uhhhh Nando's what," one person commented on the post.

"This is what people sound like when I've just woken up," another joked.

Despite leaving some fans puzzled trying to piece together the brain teaser, some savvy fans cracked the code.

As it happens, each napkin has a phonetic riddle that references a popular Nando's menu item.

After working it out, one fan commented: "Peri salted chips, fino pitta plus halloumi sticks and dip".

In response, one fan commented in awe: "You solved it".

Another who shared they work at Nando's said they were "trying to solve this for hours".

The napkin reading "pear eyes old ted chirpse" refers to the fan-favourite Nando's menu item Peri Salted Chips.

The phrase "fear nope eater" is a nod to popular Fino Pitta filled with Nando's PERi PERi chicken, halloumi cheese and caremelised onion.

Meanwhile "hello mystique sand deep" refers to Nando's Halloumi Sticks and Dip.

The napkin riddles have not made it down under but Nando's Australia has made its own napkin trend.

The Nando's AUS Instagram account features several images of napkins superimposed with relatable tweets about the company.

"I feel like- if you truly love someone, at the very least you should know their Nando's order ... right down to the designer drink," one napkin reads.

"Nando's and your best friend is therapy I swear," reads another.
