Megan's attempt at surprising her parents for their 30th wedding anniversary went horribly wrong

Custom ordering a cake is always a bit of a gamble.

For one thoughtful daughter who wanted to surprise her parents with a sweet anniversary gift, it ended in absolute chaos.

Irish nurse Megan ordered a vanilla cake in the shape of the number 30 for her parents' 30th wedding anniversary, even sending a photo to the bakery of her vision.

The cake she wanted was an intricately-piped vanilla number cake, with pearl detail to mark Helen and Eugene's milestone pearl wedding anniversary.

When Megan received her cake from the unknown Irish bakery, she was bitterly disappointed.

"What I asked for vs what I got," she captioned a clip on TikTok.

The finished cake appeared to be a lazily-designed "30" sign without any holes for the numbers. In fact, the number 3 looked suspiciously like the letter "M" just turned to the side.

The piping also looked nothing like the gorgeous pearl frosting she had requested. On top of the numbers also appeared to be fake wedding rings, however it remains unknown if they were edible.

As a final touch, the cardboard box holding the cake had a message messily scrawled, reading: "Happy 30th Wedding Anniversary Mum + Dad."

Megan's relatable cake fail seemed to resonate with plenty of fellow sweet tooths.

Her video on TikTok attracted over 1.5 million views, with plenty of amused and shocked commenters.

"No way," one person wrote. "I'd be asking for my money back."

"How can they get it wrong?! It's one of the simpler designs," another asked.

One added: "That's hilarious. It's heartbreaking. Hope you never paid."

Megan did not confirm if she complained about the state of the cake or if she requested a refund.
