'I know it's weird': Aussie superstar's strange sandwich filling twist

The humble peanut butter sandwich has been corrupted on many occasions, from Elvis adding bacon and banana to Channing Tatum including jelly and Cheetos.

Now, Liam Hemsworth has added his own twist to the lunchtime staple and has sent fans into a frenzy.

The Aussie superstar appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show with Lauren Dern to discuss their odd food obsessions.

The younger Hemsworth brother revealed he had a childhood love for peanut butter and onion sandwiches.

"Peanut butter and onion sandwiches, and I know it's weird," he confessed.

"One of my favourite movies as a child was this film called Little Monsters, which Fred Savage was in and in that movie, he wakes up and makes this sandwich, which was peanut butter and onions."

Hemsworth added: "As a child, I was like, 'Oh, that sounds so interesting,' and I started, but I haven't done it in probably 15 years."

The star continued, "It's not like a regular thing, but it did become a thing."

During the interview, Dern also divulged her weird food obsession, sharing that she liked Pepsi with olives.

Clarkson then revealed that they would taste-test the weird combinations together in front of a live audience.

Hemsworth noted that the sandwich wasn't made to his usual standards, so he decided to test it before Dern or Clarkson did.

"No, don't do it, guys, don't do it. It's no good," he said after trying a bite, though the Stronger singer had already gone in.

Clarkson concluded after one bite, "It's good!"
