'Brilliant' kitchen hack can save scrubbing your cheese grater
Whether you're grating some parmesan on top of a delectable pasta, some cheddar for a mac and cheese or shredding cheese to top off a meal, there is one annoying aspect when grating cheese: The clean up.
Depending on your grater, cheese can get stuck in niggly parts or simply just be hard to wash. Barbara Costello, aka Babs from BrunchwithBabs.com, has shared on TikTok her fool-proof hack that grates fresh cheese whilst also making her grater easy to clean afterwards.

Whilst making a cranberry gouda pull-apart bread, Babs shared the genius kitchen hack. Using non-stick spray, lightly spray the inside of your cheese grater and the outside. Then, lay the grater sideways for an easier shred.
"It's gonna fall right through and it's not going to leave a sticky cheesy mess," Babs says in the clip.
Babs' loyal followers were enthralled by the mind-blowing kitchen hack:
"This looks amazing but the cheese grater tip OMG Babs!!!," one enthused commenter commented.

"Ok Babs, I don't know what's more brilliant. Spraying the grater, laying the grater sideways, or THIS RECIPE," another said.
"BABS! Why have I never thought to spray the grater first!?," a third added.
Apartment Therapy took it upon themselves to put the hack to the test, and here's what they found:

Apartment Therapy conducted their own experiment on the hack. Apartment Therapy
"The spray didn't completely keep the cheese from sticking but it did make a small (but helpful) difference. Slightly less cheese was left behind on the grater when I used the cooking spray."
However, they did say the hack saves at least a few minutes of cleaning when tackling the thin layer of cheese left on graters.
