Tegel Take Outs Louisiana and Nashville-inspired chicken gives KFC a run for its money

TikTok foodie Adrian Widjy, who posts under the username @placesinsydney, has revealed the Woolworths frozen food item that is a perfect dupe for KFC chicken - and it can be made easily in your humble air fryer. 

Chicken brand Tegel has a new line called 'Tegel Take Outs' which includes Nashville and Louisiana-style chicken pieces and tenders.

The frozen chicken pieces simply need to be popped into your air fryer for 45-50 minutes and you can enjoy crispy, succulent, KFC-style chicken at home. 

9Honey Kitchen has taste tested the southern-style for ourselves and the verdict is that not only is it an alternative to KFC chicken…it might even be better.

The chicken pieces did take a while to cook – around 40 minutes – but the end result was definitely worth the wait.

There is an added bonus for those with lactose intolerance and dairy allergies, southern-style chicken such as KFC is usually soaked in buttermilk to tenderise the pieces, however the Tegel Take Outs appear to be dairy-free.

The brand also appears to sell crispy Louisiana-style chicken patties to make your own chicken burgers at home.

These patties can also be cooked up in the air fryer in 20-25 minutes for an easy yet tasty dinner.
