We've all been there – when you've had a few too many cocktails at happy hour or glasses of sparkling at the races and wake up feeling a little worse for wear

You may find yourself searching through the cupboards for the ultimate hangover cure, whether that be a Powerade or a BLT. But for celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, his go-to remedy is a little more gourmet.

Speaking with the team on Nova 100's Jase & Lauren radio show, who revealed they had been nursing hangovers after Melbourne Cup Day, Oliver shared what he believes to be the ultimate hangover cure.

"I think some sort of fat is really good," he said, revealing he usually goes for some sort of egg scramble with chilli and cheese.

Oliver says it can make for a hearty, spicy meal great for a hangover, and can be whipped up very quickly.

"With a little flat bread. You can turn a tortilla, eggy, cheesy chilli thing really, really quickly," Oliver said.

"And if it's just a tiny bit too hot, it just seems to get you sweating and get your blood pumping. It's a natural antiseptic and I'm sure it cleanses your body... or not."

It may be Oliver's go-to hangover cure, but co-host Lauren Phillips is not a fan.

"I couldn't think of anything worse than eggs and chilli if I was hungover," she said revealing that instead her go-to hangover cure is Chinese food.

"Fried rice, even for breakfast," she said.

Oliver agreed Phillips' go-to cure was also a good option, offering another trick he uses for days when he is feeling particularly rough.

"Also, when I've been really bad ... just a little handful of fennel seeds sorts you out," Oliver revealed.

While they have a very strong flavour resembling that of liquorice, fennel seeds are known to be packed with nutrients. They are known to have antioxidant properties and can help ease bloating and digestive disturbances - common hangover symptoms.

Oliver may be onto something with this curious and pungent hangover cure.
