Ikea launches free gingerbread stencils so you can build its iconic furniture
Your favourite Swedish flat pack furniture can now be enjoyed in festive gingerbread form.
The chain has launched free downloadable gingerbread stencils, so you can build an Ikea room — and then eat it.
Launching today, the bespoke stencils are based on iconic furniture pieces many will already be familiar with, including the Billy bookcase, Strandmon chai and Malm bed frame.
As with Ikea's flat pack catalogue, each gingerbread piece comes with easy-to-follow instructions (thankfully, without the need for an Allen key).

Ikea fans can simply print and cut out the stencil templates straight from the website and, using a gingerbread recipe, bake and decorate a festive miniature gingerbread room.
The stencils are part of the furniture chain's 2021 Christmascape kits, DIY digital kits dreamed up by the Ikea design team to get into the spirit of the season.

The kits are themed around Cooking with Kids, Sustainable Table Decorations, and Balcony and Outdoor Spaces.
The Christmasscapes kits were designed to make it easy for shoppers to "create a magical space", according to Christine Gough, Ikea's Home Furnishing Direction Leader.

"More than ever, we know many Australians are looking for easy, beautiful, affordable and sustainable solutions heading into the festive season," she said.
"These curated collections provide Australians with solutions to embrace new traditions and create magical moments this Christmas – whether it's enhancing the smallest of spaces, cooking with kids or entertaining for one, two or 20, the kits enable customers to bring the festivities to life in their home in true Ikea fashion that won't hurt their wallet or the environment."
Ikea has launched the stencils alongside its annual Vintersaga range, which features everything you could need to create a gingerbread house or Christmassy setting, from frozen gingerbread dough and houses to baking glue and festive cookie cutters.
