IKEA drops new meatless meatballs after years of anticipation
Vegetarians rejoice! After years of anticipation, IKEA Australia has finally announced that their iconic meatballs are going meatless.
The plant-based variety, that will hit stores on October 6, will have the same look and taste as the classic meat version and will only produce 4 per cent of the climate footprint that its meat mate does. The delicious ball helping to contribute to IKEA's plan to become climate positive by 2030.

The sustainable balls are made with yellow pea protein, oats, potatoes, onion and apple and will be served exactly the same way as the original meatballs are — with mashed potatoes, lingonberries and cream sauce — with frozen take-home packs also available.
"We're excited to be able to soon start offering a more sustainable option of our original meatball without compromising on the classic IKEA meatball experience," says IKEA spokesperson, Bijanka Zubonja.

Before the much-hyped balls land in store, IKEA is giving 350 die-hard fans the chance to be the very first in Australia to taste the plant-based delights.
The Swedish furniture giant will host a series of exclusive dining experiences this month across the country that will see IKEA food lovers "transported into a world where botanist meets elevated dining" through a never seen (or tasted) before three-course menu.
Tickets to the exclusive event (called 'Sustainable Dining: A menu better for you and the planet') will be available to IKEA Family Members for $25.
