While undeniably delicious, ice cream cake isn't the most practical of birthday celebration offerings.

Ice cream cake is impossibly sticky and tough to cut through but also reduces into a puddle within minutes.

Thankfully, Aussie food icon Tegan Maccormack – known to her many fans as 'Tigga Mac' – has shared her mess-free serving suggestion in an Instagram reel and fans can't get enough of it.

"Okey dokey, I'm gonna show you the most genius hack to serve up this cake, no knives, no plates," her video began.

Maccormack revealed that all she uses is an ice cream cake and waffle cones.

"I gotta tell you, as a mum, there is nothing more terrifying than when it's time to serve up the birthday cake," she continued.

"You've got all these little faces staring at you and all these little hands coming towards you, and they're all begging for the first piece or the biggest piece or the piece with the most spoon, and you're just putting on your nice mum voice telling everyone, 'Uust wait patiently.'

"This eliminates all that."

Showing her hack in real-time, she told viewers, "Just tell them to grab a cone, line on up and scoop it on in [to an ice cream cone]."

"I also did some of the little cups for little hands. No knife, no plates, no spoons, no mess, and I got like 20 cones."
