Yes, you can cook pasta in the microwave - here's how I do it
I'm not someone who enjoys spending time in the kitchen, I actually quite despise it.
For me, the kitchen is a room I like to spend a minimal amount of time in. If I discover a meal I can simply leave to cook while I go do something else instead, I will be cooking that until I simply can't eat it anymore.
Because of my aversion to the kitchen, I've uncovered some genius recipes and hacks in my time. One of them is that you can, in fact, cook pasta in the microwave.

Now, you might be saying, "pasta is already so easy to cook, why do we need a hack?"
Well, you're obviously not as lazy as me.
For those who are ready to own their kitchen laziness, let me introduce you to a contraption I like to call, 'my pasta microwave cooking container thing'.
Basically, it's a container designed to cook pasta in the microwave. Genius, right?

Someone with an Albert Einstein level IQ must of designed this thing, because they've thought of everything.
It's a long rectangular shape, so you can cook whatever form of pasta your heart desires – spaghetti, shells, spirals, fettucine - you name it, this container will cook it.
Forget a colander, this bad boy has slits in the lid so once you take it out of the microwave, you simple hold the handle on either side and tip it over the sink.
(It did also come with a measuring tool to help me cook the correct amount of spaghetti, but I lost that very quickly.)

When it comes to the actual cooking process, it couldn't be easier.
One thing I've found is that it cooks better if you rinse the pasta first, it's not a necessary step though it's still good either way.
Basically, all you have to do is put your pasta of choice into the container, fill it with water, add a little salt if you're feeling fancy, pop the lid on and cook it for a little longer than the packet instructs.
So if you're cooking spaghetti that says to boil for nine minutes, I would add an extra three minutes and pop it in for 12.
However, how long you add to the cooking process can depend on your microwave, you may need to experiment a little.
Once you hear the sweet, sweet ding of the microwave that signifies your food has been cooked while you've simply sat on the couch doing nothing, you can take the container out of the microwave, drain the water, and add your sauce of choice.
Now, I'm sure you can use any microwave safe container to cook your pasta, I just find this one makes the process even simpler with it's handy shape and clever design.
I got mine a few years ago, so I can't remember the exact price, but it was definitely under $15 from Kmart.

After a quick Google search of "pasta cooking container," it seems like you can get them from any Kmart or Big W-esque stores for around $12.
So, go forth and free up an extra 12 minutes of your day to maybe be productive or maybe just rot on the couch watching TikToks.
Whatever option you prefer, you can get out of the kitchen stat by cooking your pasta in the microwave.
