Chef reveals $0 ingredient that'll take your roast chicken to the next level
There's nothing quite like a Sunday roast chicken.
Especially mid winter, it's the perfect heartwarming family feed but it's not always easy to get it right.
One chef has just shared his clever hack for cooking a perfectly 'moist' and flavoursome roast chicken and it requires one simple ingredient that you can find in any kitchen - an ice cube.

Speaking to hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle on British morning television show This Morning, TV chef John Torode shared the clever trick while demonstrating a roast chicken recipe.
"So you take your chicken and you take the chicken as it is, and what it's got on the outside of it, and it's usually all tied up. Keep that, and then what we're going to do is fill the inside with a couple of lemons, cut in half, a bit of sage and some ice cubes," Torode explained.
To add more flavour and moisture, Torode also suggest putting salt and pepper on the ice cubes before placing them into the cavity of the chicken. Doing so, helps the flavour permeate through the meat of the chicken while the seasoning on the outside of the chicken remains on the skin only.

"So the only way seasoning comes is from the inside," he explains.
"And we're using ice cubes- what happens is as it cooks the steam goes through it, steams the inside of the chicken, keeps it lovely and moist on the inside and then you've got all the juices left inside as well."
Host Gibson was blown away by Torode's simple hack and applauded the idea.
"That is the biggest golden tip I think I've ever heard," she shared.
