Firefighters warn viewers against steak 'hack' using a toaster

In the world of FoodTok (foodie TikTok) there are millions upon millions of cooking hacks – some are life-changing, and some are just downright dangerous.

One TikTok user's dangerous method has attracted an array of experts to speak out and warn viewers not to try it at home themselves.

The self-proclaimed 'masterchef', who goes by the username @itsmeju1iette, posted a video of herself cooking two slabs of raw steak in her toaster.

She then pulls the two seemingly cooked steaks out and hacks into them.

The London Fire Brigade has shared a warning about the 'hack' on Twitter as part of electrical safety week. 

"We're reminding people to only use electrical products for their designated use," the Brigade urged in a tweet.

"You must be joking, I can't believe anyone would really do that!" a bewildered Twitter user replied.

"'How to cook your steak', more like how to burn your house down," another user retorted.

According to the UK electrical safety website, over half of all house fires are started by electricity and nine out of ten electrical fires are caused by electrical products.

The 'masterchef' was not only met with fury under the fire department's tweet, but her video was also duetted by Gordon Ramsay himself.

"What are you doing?" the astonished celebrity chef asks.

"Toasters are for bread, and right now if I had two slices I'd stick them on your ears you idiot," he adds, referring to his infamous 'idiot sandwich' meme.

Bottom line is this is not a hack you want to try. Your steak will most likely be bland and chewy, and it could start an electrical fire.
