Cruise ship passenger's 'awful' meal goes viral: 'That is a crime'

Some people go on cruises just to enjoy the huge array of quality dining options available on many ships.

But one passenger has shared his disappointment at a meal he recently received, sharing a photo of his serving of Mac and Cheese online.

"I asked for Mac and cheese not cheese on mac," user Eddy5876 wrote on a popular Reddit thread, alongside an image of a bowl of the popular cheesy pasta, with a surprising extra addition.

The student from the US claimed he and his family were on a Carnival Cruise, which cost them $US2,000-plus for the family of five.

Hundreds of comments were left on the post within a day, with many people agreeing the meal looked "awful", and wondering why the cheese slice was simply melted on top.

"That is a cheese on mac crime," one person commented.

"Looks like something a kid would do," another wrote.

"That's by far the worst macaroni and cheese I've ever seen," was another response, while a fourth person said: "They straight up melted a piece of cheese over noodles. That's the laziest meal I've ever seen."

A few thought it looked like the pasta was already coated in some kind of sauce but it wasn't the "proper" way to add more cheese.

Meanwhile, some didn't see the problem.

"If I want extra cheesy mac and cheese, that is literally how I do it at home," was one response.

While others pointed to the various dining options usually on cruise ships and wondered why the passenger ordered the simple dish in the first place.

"Imagine going on a cruise and then ordering mac and cheese," one person wrote.

"Mac and cheese is great anytime of any day. BUT, on a cruise there are usually far better options," another agreed.
