Mum's incredible coke bottle cake hack stumps children: 'So creative'

We all love a creative mud cake hack and it's even more impressive when the cake barely resembles something edible.

One mum's creation certainly had her kids doing a double take, when she made a cake that almost looked indistinguishable from an actual Coke bottle.

"Must have been good as my daughter took a few minutes to find the 'cake' in the fridge," mum Becky shared in a popular mud cake hacks group on Facebook.

In order to get the Woolies mudcake in the right shape, Becky explained she cut up an actual coke bottle to use the plastic as a 'cookie cutter'.

"I did two layers of melted chocolate on the inside then layered the cake and buttercream on the inside," she added.

"Cut the plastic bottle off (carefully), joined with some more buttercream and melted chocolate, then attached the label and cap."

People loved the idea with one person calling it "so creative".

"Thats very cool. Think my husbands bday cake just got sorted!" another said.

While a third wrote: "Looks really good. Talented woman."

A few, however, pointed out it was very clearly a cake and claimed they wouldn't have been fooled.

"It is very clearly a cake. But very well done, a bit of fun," one person wrote online.

"Who couldn't see it was a cake?" another mused.

Thrifty bakers have been sharing their Coles and Woolies mud cake hacks to Facebook for the past few years, inspiring Aussies to turn the $4.80 grocery item into a show-stopping layer cake worth hundreds.

Aussie mum Amanda Grech's epic Thomas the Tank Engine cake hack went viral last year and was praised as "original" and "super cool" on social media.

Another mum also went viral for turning some Coles cakes into a roll of loo paper, embracing the recent 'everything is cake' trend.
