All signs are pointing to an expensive festive season in 2025 when it comes to our favourite Christmas treats.

The price of Cadbury Chocolate Coated Almonds, Peanuts and Sultanas, a favourite Aussie stocking filler, has increased in price by another $1 this festive season.

They now cost $13 per jar, up from $12 in 2024 and $10 in 2022.

Coles does have them on sale this week, with a two for $18 offer which works out to be $9 each.

But you have to buy two of them, which is a bit of a commitment this early in year.

At Woolies, you can get a single jar for the discount price of $9, without having to commit to two.

And Cadbury's Chocolate Coated range is just the start of the Christmas price hikes Aussie shoppers about to see between now and December.

Even advent calendars aren't safe.

A Cadbury Advent Calendar costs $9 in 2025 – up from $8 in 2024.

Chocolate prices have soared over the past two years due to a global cocoa shortage in West Africa where the majority of the world's cocoa is grown.

This has been due to severe weather and a crop disease, as well as increases in the cost of production due to electricity, transport, and logistics.

Cadbury, Nestle and Mondelz, the makes of Toblerone, have all increased the prices of their signature ranges.

Some famous chocolate products such as Cadbury Favourites remain steady in price, but are shrinking in size – victims of so-called 'shrinkflation'.

And it isn't just chocolates and wafers and sweet treats that are being subjected to these price increases.

Christmas hams are also set to soar in price, due to a nation-wide pork shortage.

Aussie shoppers will be watching supermarket shelves closely to see just how high prices for the Christmas favourite go this year.

So far Coles and Woolworths home brand fruit mince pies and puddings remain stable in price.

However other popular Australian Christmas staples such as turkeys, barbeque cuts, seafood and even the traditional pavlova are expected to increase in price.

Pavlovas are uniquely vulnerable to price increases due to an egg shortage in Australia that began to impact egg supplies in mid-2024.
