Burger King are sneaking plant-based burgers into your order at random

Are you a hardened carnivore? Think you could spot a meat fake if you were dished one?

Apparently Burger King Sweden are so sure their new plant-based burger tastes like the real thing, they're running a campaign in which customers are served plant-based burgers at random, as part of their new "50/50 menu".

The new burgers, the Rebel Whopper and Rebel Chicken King, are essentially plant-based versions of the chain's regular Whopper and Crispy Chicken menu items.

The way the promotion works is, customers opt to order a Whopper or a chicken burger from the 50/50 menu, and Burger King staff randomly select whether they receive a meat version, or a plant-based patty in their burgers.

Customers who want to find out which they actually ended up with can scan the burger box with the Burger King app, and are required to enter a guess before being shown the result.

The company then plan to release the data around customers' guesses "after the summer" in the Northern Hemisphere.

"We are really proud of how hard it is to tell our plant-based burgers apart from real meat," said Daniel Schröder, marketing director for Burger King Sweden in a statement.
