Australia's best supermarket frozen chips have been named

Australia's best supermarket frozen chips have been named, and it's a little-known brand out of Melbourne that's picked up the top prize, beating major brands sold at Coles and Woolworths.

Bespoke Foods, an independent business based in Victoria, has beaten some of the biggest names in frozen food to win Product of the Year 2026 in the Frozen Chips category for its Homestyle Potato Chips.

They even have a four-star health rating and are made using no artificial colours or flavours.

Bespoke Foods Homestyle Potato Chips are made using Australian potatoes only. They won for their crisp coating and creamy centre and turn out perfectly in an air fryer.

The only catch is you won't find them in Coles, Woolies, Aldi or IGA.

Melissa Swinscoe, Marketing Manager at Bespoke, tells nine.com.au their award-winning product can be found in Costco outlets nationally, as well as some independent retailers and online via Fairdinks.

They are sold in both 750g and 1.8kg packs. Their 750g pack costs $7.99 and Costco is selling the larger 1.8kg packs for $12.49.

Bespoke also makes Sweet Potato Chips and Waffle Fries.

Their Roast Potatoes with Duck Fat are a little harder to locate. Bespoke also manufactures frozen potato cakes/scallops, egg plant chips and halloumi fries.

The growing issues impacting potato supplies in Australia proved challenging for the brand, which included adverse weather conditions and a virus called mop-top.

"We definitely endured hardships securing potatoes, especially as our commitment is to ensuring that we have 100 per cent Australian potatoes and 100 per cent Australian sweet potatoes.

"And the focus has just been on making sure that we continue to see quality, continue to support farmers, and also continue to be able to supply our customers as best we can."

Product of the Year is the world's largest consumer-based awards program, now in its 17th year in Australia. Five thousand Aussie shoppers were were tasked with deciding on winners in a number of categories using strict criteria.

These included relevance, uniqueness, excitement, likeability, distinctiveness and innovation. Prices were also shared with voters.

Coles and Woolworths home brand items dominated this year's awards. Aldi didn't participate in this latest round.

Coles home brands won in 16 food categories including Coles Asian Fried Shallots, Coles Made With KitKat Cake, Coles Finest Granola Honey Roasted with Nut, Coles Special Herb Mayo and Coles Finest Chilli Cheddar Cheese Slices.

A number of Coles frozen desserts also took out top spots, including Coles Finest French Lemon Meringue Tarts, Coles Strawberry & Chocolate Milkshake Pops and Coles Finest Mango Sorbet.

Coles Finest Frozen Potatoes with Herb Butter was voted the best frozen potato product.

Coles' Made Easy Slow Cooked Pork Belly Bites in BBQ Honey won for Best Ready Meal Fresh, while Coles Finest Potato Gnocchi with Cacio e Pepe Sauce took out top spot for Best Ready Meal Frozen.

Woolworths took out the top spot for 10 of their grocery items including top spot for Bake At Home Snack Apple Pies.

Woolworths Indulgent Hot Cross Buns Filled with Cinnabon won in the Bakery Snacking category and Woolworths Apple Slice Cookies was voted best Biscuit Snacking.

Woolworths Belgian Dark Chocolate with Himalayan Salt was named best Confectionary Chocolate. Best Entertaining Savoury product was Woolworths Chicken Parmi Balls and Woolworths Smash Beef Burgers took out top spot for Fresh Meat Burgers.
