Aldi coffee beans crowned best in Australia two years in a row
Australia's best coffee has been crowned, and it's a reigning favourite.
Aldi's Lazzio coffee has won the Overall Champion of the Large Chain category at the 2025 Golden Bean Australasia Awards for the second year in a row.
Roasted by Black Bag Roasters in Melbourne, the coffee beans have now claimed the title six times in the past seven years.

Aldi has previously won the Overall Large Chain Champion award in 2024, 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019, as well as the 'Large Chain Champion' at the World Series Golden Bean Awards in 2024.
Coming to 18 cents per cup, the coffee range also scored eight other wins in the Golden Bean awards, particularly in the Large Chain-Store Espresso and Large Chain-Store Milk categories this year.
Two of these awards are for yet-to-be-released products – the Lazzio Luxe Reserve Single Origin Guatemala and Ethiopia Beans won Gold in the Large Chain Espresso and Silver in the Large Chain Milk Based categories respectively.

These varieties will be in store for customers to try on July 23.

Aldi's home brand Alcafe also fared well in 9honey's own instant coffee taste test, being a favourite for many, which came as a bit of a shock as it is one of the cheapest options we tried.

Off the bat, taste testers picked up a slightly sweeter scent, likening the smell to chocolate or tiramisu.
"That's pretty smooth, that almost has that chocolatey feel to it but still the bitterness [of coffee]," noted one person.
"It packs a punch," added another, "It hit my mouth and I was like, 'That's coffee'."
If you're someone who orders a latte or maybe even a coffee with syrup, the Alcafe mixed with some milk and sugar is going to be your best bet.
