Masterchef alum's 'genius' sausage sandwich hack causes total Twitter meltdown

Katherine Scott

Just a month after the former MasterChef star Adam Liaw dropped his now-viral 'controversial' sausage sizzle hack on Twitter, the celebrity cook is at it again.

And this time, there's cheese involved.

Back in December, when Liaw shared a hack for creating bread slices long enough to cope with a standard Bunnings snag — by getting your baker to slice a loaf length-ways — the Twitterverse wasted no time dubbing the simple tip "genius" and game-changing.

Today, the chef may have just pulled off the perfect follow-up act with another outstanding twist on the classic summer sanga.

Posting to his followers, Liaw explains how we could all be boosting our barbecue snag-athon with the simplest of hacks.

"What if I told you that you could add crisp, golden cheese to a sausage-in-bread just by frying a slice of ordinary tasty cheese directly on a barbecue and putting a slice of bread on top of it?" he asks his 87,800 Twitter followers.

The caption is accompanied by a short video clip featuring Liaw demonstrating the neat trick on a frying pan — watch it above.

In the clip, the culinary guru places a tasty cheese slice in the centre of a hot pan, and covers it with a bread slice. Once sizzling and melty, Liaw easily and cleanly lifts the slice — now fused with the lightly-browned cheese — off the pan and proceeds to assemble his sausage sandwich.

The post has rapidly garnered hundreds of comments, retweets and thousands of likes in a few short hours, with fans dubbing it "genius", his "greatest gift to humanity" and a "certified game changer".

The chef's susequent Tweets are all classic Liaw.

Suffice to say, the Internet was swift and unanimous in its praise of the decadent creation.
