Young mum shares final photo of partner cradling his newborn son

A young mother has shared a photo of her late partner cradling their newborn son, taken just hours before he was killed in a mass brawl.

Jamie Lee had become a father three weeks earlier and was out with friends celebrating.

But he didn’t make it home.

Nearly one year on his girlfriend, Laura Ward, has shared the heartbreaking image to plead for his killer to be brought to justice.

"Someone somewhere knows something," Ward told The Daily Record.

"This is not about me. Whoever did this took a baby’s daddy away and they need to be punished."

The 22-year-old had gone to watch the football in Glasgow, Scotland, with friends but ended being shot in the leg when he found himself involved in a fight with local gangs.

Several people have been arrested, but police are still searching for his suspected killer, Jordan Owen, who has since disappeared.

Just hours earlier, Lee had posed for the portrait with Ward and their son Jae.

"Jamie was ecstatic about becoming a dad," Ward says.

"When people asked how it felt, he said, 'I'm still tingling from my toes to my head'."

Although Ward has happy memories of her six years with Lee, she is being haunted by the last time she saw him.

"His mum called to say something was going on and I rushed out of the house," Ward says.

"I remember trying to get to him and that’s the image that always comes back to me – Jamie lying there and that feeling of just knowing it was him."

Their son recently turned one, his birthday falling on Father’s Day in the UK.

"When Jae says dadda, all I can do is point to a photo," says Ward.

"Jae will definitely know of his dad – I’ll make sure of that.

"That’s what keeps me going, that Jae is the only bit of Jamie that’s left."
