Father faces investigation after 'forcing' teen daughter to cut off all her hair

A father in Ohio is facing a child abuse investigation after he allegedly forced his teenager daughter to chop off all her hair as "punishment" when she went to visit him.

The girl's mother took to Facebook to tell friends and family about the incident last week following their daughter Kelsey's 13th birthday.

"This is what my daughter looked like Sunday when I took her home,' she captioned a shot of her daughter's long, blonde hair-do taken in the passenger seat of a car.

It's understood Johnson took her daughter for a 'pamper' session at the hairdresser and allowed her to get blonde highlights, which she was not allowed to do.

Mum, Christin Johnson, then shared two photos of Kelsey with a pixie crop hair do, explaining "[this is] what happened today before she was brought to me... all over me having highlights put in her hair for her birthday!"

One shot, taken from the back shows the very short do exposing the nape of the teen's neck. Another front-on image shows Kelsey covering her face with her hand, seemingly crying over the new look.

Police were notified over the incident, with Haskins Police Chief Colby Carroll telling local news station JAX Johnson claims father Schaffen Frederick and Kelsey's stepmother, Sarah Murray, had ordered her to get her hair cut as punishment.

According to reports from FOX8, the couple are also being investigated by both police and Wood County Children's Services on a possible child abuse complaint. Pending these investigations the volunteer firefighters may be stood down and have been place on leave in the mean time.

Johnson's original post has garnered thousands of comments, over 36,000 reactions and over 25,000 shares online.

"I’m am so floored that a father would do something so hurtful to his own daughter. This is such a hard age as it is, kids can be so cruel. What was he thinking," one person wrote.

However, not all of the feedback has been positive, with plenty of people slamming the parents for airing their dirty laundry publicly.

"There's nothing wrong with the highlights, there's nothing wrong with a mother pampering her child on her birthday but what is wrong is when two adults physically,emotionally and mentally abuse a child for no other reason then they just felt like it," one person wrote.

It seems the negative reactions haven't deterred Johnson, who took to Facebook again on Friday to thank Kelsey's god mother for taking her to get a wig, saying her daughter has "got her smile back".

"I'd like to thank the ladies at Lady Jane's on Glendale in Toledo, OH for making my baby feel more like herself!

"Especially Haylee Ann for taking her to pick out her new hair. She got her smile back because of you ladies and your selfless acts of kindness! We truly appreciate you ladies so much! Haylee, you are the best God mother to Kelsey and the bond you two share is incredible, we love you so much!"
