Did the French President Emmanuel Macron just announce the return of chest hair?
In unexpected news, French President Emmanuel Macron has subtly announced the return of chest hair (lots of it, too!) and where else better to take a stance on male grooming than on the campaign trail.
Macron, 44, is currently fighting it out against far-right candidate Marine Le Pen for France's top job, but a drop of trip photos from a recent visit to Marseille by Macron's official photographer Soazig de la Moissonnière has left the world in awe of his chest hair, over his presidential pitch.
Lounging on a comfy brown leather sofa, sans tie, Macron's crisp white shirt – still tucked into his deep navy trousers – is unbutton down below his chest showcasing a man mane like no other.
Dark, thick and perfectly groomed at the collar so as to give no hint to what he's working with under there when he's all nine-to-five, the happy snap of the French President is a surprise given what we've come to see from our politicians and leading men. Remember almost every male world leader and high profile celebrity rolling up their sleeves/exposing their torsos to get the jab? And Putin shirtless and hairless fishing (yikes)?

The 'relaxed' (certainly staged) look from Macron has led commentators to suggest that perhaps this is a subtle way to prove he exhibits "traditional French values" – with chest hair and two mobile phones – and attempt to "woo Le Pen's conservative voters".
Either way, this is a thirst trap (Urban Dictionary defines as a sexy photograph posted on social media for the intent of causing others to publicly profess their attraction) and one that suggests that men can finally put away the trimmers – and stop clogging our drains – and let their chest 'fro grow.
We've enjoyed the rise and fall of chest hair – from the days when '80s Tom Selleck was the poster child for a chesty rug to the more recent squad of men preferring their chiselled six-pack to be on show, uninterrupted by curly hair. So where do you sit?
