Usha and JD Vance debut baby Alec with a relatable confession

Vice President JD Vance’s wife Usha has shared the first photos of her newborn son, Alec, debuting the family’s latest arrival with a candid family portrait. 

“Thank you for all the good wishes as we settle into life as a family of six,” the wife of US Vice President JD Vance wrote. 

“Meet Alec — and enjoy these attempts at taking a decent family photo with four kids!”

The post included family portraits showing Usha and JD with their four children on a couch, while another image offered a close-up of baby Alec asleep in a pale blue outfit.

As the caption explained, the photos captured the challenge of keeping young children still long enough for everyone to face the camera at the same time.

The couple announced Alec’s birth on July 19, revealing he had arrived earlier that day.

“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” the joint statement read. 

“The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Centre and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing. We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”

JD and Usha, who married in 2014, are also parents to sons Ewan, nine, and Vivek, six, and daughter Mirabel, four.

Alec is the first child born to a sitting US vice president since 1870, making his arrival a rare moment in American political history. 

The couple first announced in January that they were expanding their family again.

“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy,” they shared in a statement via Instagram at the time. “Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”

The statement continued, “During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”
