Popular four-letter Aussie cat name claims top spot for another year in a row

Australia's top cat names for 2025 have been revealed, and one name in particular has claimed the crown for yet another year.

Pet Insurance Australia has released its list of the 10 most popular cat names for both male and female cats, revealing the one that seems to have countless cat lovers in a chokehold.

The name Luna continues to reign supreme as the most popular female cat name for Aussie cat owners.

The four-letter name has topped the list of female cat names for several consecutive years and is yet to be usurped from the throne.

The name appeared in the top three for every state in Australia.

In fact, Luna "has been the most popular name across dogs and cats for several years" according to Pet Insurance Australia.

Meanwhile, the name Leo has claimed the top spot for male cat names.

Alongside Luna, the names Lucy, Daisy, Willow and Bella claimed a spot in the top five female cat names.

Milo, Bluey, Billy, Simba and Prince took out spots in the top five male cat names.

The list also reveals a penchant among cat owners to use human-inspired names like Annie, Millie and Freya for their furry friends.

It reflects "just how deeply Australians see their cats as part of the family", per Pet Insurance Australia.

"More than ever, pets are being treated as true family members, and their names absolutely reflect that," Nadia Crighton from the insurance brand says.

The list also shows a trend of food-inspired names like Mochi, Oreo, Honey, Milo and Coco.
