Tom Brady reveals his dog Junie is a clone of his late pitbull: 'Gave my family a second chance'

NFL superstar Tom Brady has revealed his dog Junie is a clone of his late pet Lua.

Brady made the revelation in a combined statement with bioscience company Colossal, saying he worked with the company, which he is an investor in, to clone his dog Lua after she died in 2023.

Blood from the pitbull-mix was taken by Colossal before she died, and was later used to create a clone puppy.

"I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family," the former quarterback said in the statement.

"A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family's elderly dog before she passed.

"In a few short months, Colossal gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog."

The statement comes as Colossal acquires Viagen Pets and Equine, the world leaders in animal cloning, and the only company aside from Colossal to clone endangered species.

Viagen famously cloned Barbra Streisand's dog Samantha, who died in 2017, as well as Paris Hilton's dog Diamond Baby into two puppies.

The biotech company has "exclusive licensing and access to the breakthrough technologies" that were developed by the Roslin Institute of Edinburgh.

The technology is known for cloning Dolly the sheep in the '90s.

While Colossal has acquired the company, it says they cloned Brady's dog using their own technology, not Viagen's.

Colossal made headlines earlier this year when they announced they had created three Dire Wolf pups.

Brady and his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, adopted Lua during their marriage and she became a prominent member of the family.

The dog even starred alongside Brady in an ad for Ugg Australia in 2014.
