Welovedoodles.com has analysed 44.97 million searches and 727.64 million Instagram hashtags to come up with a list of the most popular.

15. Cocker spaniel
This gentle, sweet breed is known for it's long floppy ears and luscious coat.
The name cocker spaniel comes from the breed's skill in hunting woodcocks, as it was originally bred for hunting small game.
14. Shiba inu
This breed is the smallest of Japan's native dogs and was originally bred for hunting.
Shiba inus are known for being loyal, intelligent and alert but also stubborn.
13. Goldendoodle
This adorable dog might rank 13 overall, but the goldendoodle is actually the most popular mixed breed dog in the world, according to this study.
The breed is a cross between golden retrievers and poodles.
10. Border collie
Named after the region on the border of Scotland and England where it originated from, border collies were originally bred to herd sheep.
Border collies are considered the world's most intelligent dog and are very active.
9. German shepherd
This breed is known for intelligence, loyalty and protectiveness.
German shepherds are particularly good as working dogs so if considering one as a family pet keep in mind they need lots of exercise and training.
8. Pomeranian
Originating from Pomerania, a region that is now part Poland and part Germany, this breed is a small, lively dog, with a fox-like appearance.
6. Dachshund
A small dog, the dachshund also comes in an even smaller miniature variety.
It is often better known by the name sausage dog, because of its long body and short legs.
4. Golden retrievers
Golden retrievers are excellent family dogs, with a friendly personality and are easily trained.
The breed's signature golden coat does need brushing daily, but otherwise is low maintenance.
3. Pugs
This small breed is recognisable for its wrinkly squished face and curly tail.
Friendly and affectionate, they make a good dog for apartments but are prone to eye and breathing problems.
