The pet toy dogs are obsessed with is back, and owners are filling their carts
Much to the delight of dogs and their owners alike, Kmart has brought back its beloved lamb plush toy, affectionately nicknamed "Lamby", after popular demand.
The Aussie retailer has brought back the $5 toy, named "Pet Toy Plush Sheep" on its website, leading to pet owners flocking to Kmart and filling their trolleys to the brim.
The return of the toy was announced mid-December last year in the Kmart Buzz Facebook group.

The retailer's social media profile shared a video of Lamby looking through all the requests to bring the toy back, with the caption, "Lamby here… and guess who's baaaaa-ck (soon!) I've been hanging with the Kmart elves, and let's just say… they are busy.
"While I won't be on shelves for Christmas, I'll be bouncing back into stores in the new year! I'll let you know as soon as I'm back at your local Kmart store #BringBackLamby."
Since mid-January, Kmart fans have been spotting the hard-to-find toy and sharing with others where to find it.

Some have filled up their trolleys, buying multiple at a time, to the concern of other shoppers. "People please don't over buy as others are wanting them as well. Someone stated they had 30 which I think is unfair," one shared.
Others questioned the hype, to which seasoned pet owners simply said, "furbabys love them... no other toy competes. Can't explain why? Its just one of those things."
Sunshine Coast woman Kenny says her dog Quinn was not seen without the toy for at least three years when she was a puppy.
The 25-year-old told nine.com.au, "She always had one because she carried it around, and then they stopped making them. So I bought a whole bunch of them."
Over the years, Kenny estimates she bought "maybe 20" of the pet toys, admitting that her now eight-year-old Cavalier x Tibetan Spaniel was "a bit of a chewer" and "terribly disruptive when she was baby."

As for why her furbaby was so obsessed, Kenny believes it was due to "the size of it, because it was little."
Another fan who left a review on the retailer's website site shared, "I don't know specifically why this is my dogs favourite toy. Could be the curly sheepskin-like fleece. Could be the cute face with big eyes. It could be the tag like arms and legs and puffy ears. Or it could be the squeaker inside the body that is protected but easy for your puppy to engage.
"It not a huge toy so easy for puppies to manage but safe in size and very durable. Easy to wash and it's good to go again if it's slobbered on. My puppy has accumulated a lot of toys but only this one makes it to her bed and I know it's special."
A Kmart spokesperson has confirmed the toy's popularity in a statement to nine.com.au.
"The $5 Plush Sheep Pet Toy has proven to be a popular choice with customers thanks to its simple design, softness and great value. Bringing it back allows us to meet ongoing demand for trusted pet essentials that customers recognise and enjoy," they said.

"We're always listening to customer feedback and reviewing what's resonating most, so we can continue offering products that feel familiar, functional and affordable."
If you can't get your hands on the elusive pet toy, there are many other options from other retailers.
Pet Circle sells The Multipet Lamb Chop Large Plush Dog Toy, which is a recreation of the character from Shari Lewis' classic children's show. They also sell a sleeping lamb toy, the Little Buddy Heart Beat Sheep, which has a gentle heartbeat simulation.
Meanwhile, Petbarn sells a mini sheep called the Plush Sheep Dog Toy in multiple colours, as well as the Catnip Squinty Sheep Cat Toy for our feline friends.
