'I didn't think I could love her more': Sam Kerr's awe at seeing wife Kristie Mewis become a mum
EXCLUSIVE: Starting a family and becoming a parent is one of the most life-changing things anyone can do.
That rings true for Sam Kerr, 32, who welcomed her first child, son Jagger Mewis-Kerr, with her wife and fellow football star Kristie Mewis, 34, in May 2025.
Kerr – one of Australia's greatest athletes, who represents us on the world stage with the Matildas and also plays for Chelsea F.C – tells nine.com.au watching Mewis become a mum has been an incredible thing to witness.

"Watching Kristie become a mum has been the best thing ever," Sam says.
"I didn't think I could love her more, but she's been so amazing.
"I tell her all the time I knew she would be a good mum, but she's smashed my expectations. It's really nice to see."
Speaking of how motherhood has changed her perspective, she adds, "It makes you realise there is more to life then all the little things you worry about."

Kerr is celebrating a unique milestone: her first campaign with Jagger.
The mother-son duo have appeared in the Bonds Good to Grow campaign.
"The shoot was amazing," Kerr says, adding that her son "did amazing" during the process.
"We tried to keep him laughing and smiling with one short nap in the middle, we had a fun time and now have photos that will last a lifetime."

She also lifted the lid on little Jagger's personality, saying he is "a very happy baby".
"[He] never really cries and [is] very stubborn. He is only eight months but already bossing us around!" she joked.
If there's one thing the soccer stars want their son to have an interest in, it's sport – naturally.
"I do hope he is into sport," Kerr says.

"We don't mind what sport, we just hope he has the passion for sport like we do."
But he'll have the support of the doting parents regardless.
"Loving what you do is most important, so whatever he chooses we will always support him," she adds.
On New Year's Eve, Kerr and Mewis said "I do" in Kerr's hometown of Perth.
The ceremony was held at a Mediterranean-style property called Villa Dionysus, and the couple were surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
"Wifey," Kerr proudly declared in a joint Instagram post as they shared pictures from their intimate wedding day.
"It's been a long time coming," she added to nine.com.au.
