Going grocery shopping each week can feel like an enormous task - so imagine doing it for a family of 12.

Mum-of-ten Alicia Dougherty, from New York, has shown exactly what she purchases during her weekly 'shopping haul', worth close to $2000, in a video on Instagram.

"How many pounds of produce do you go through in a week?" she captioned the clip detailing her shop.

In the video the mum spreads out her entire shop on the floor.

The haul includes five kilos worth of different cereal, numerous snacks including popcorn, party size chip packets, bags of nuts, Cinnamon Rolls and more. Moving onto dairy, the mum purchases over 25 litres of milk, eight tubs of yogurt, 72 eggs and four large blocks of cheddar cheese. She says this only lasts "a few days" in the house.

When it comes to fresh produce there is a large offering of fruit including bananas, grapes, apples oranges and more, plus lots of veggies for the family.

It's a special week for the Dougherty family, who call themselves the Dougherty Dozen, as this week they are doing 'steak night'.

"We've got steak night this week that means five different kinds of steak," the mum comments as she shows the $220 worth of meat she purchased.

Alongside the six kilos of steak, she also bought her regular protein options including six kilos of chicken breast, two kilos of prawns and four kilos of sausage.

"They didn't have everything I needed, so I'm going to Costco tomorrow for the rest," mum Alicia says.

The Dougherty kids range in age from youngest Harlee who is three to eldest Alex who is 16. Alicia and her husband Josh care for a mix of biological and adopted children and say, "Life here is crazy and loud, but we Love It! We're definitely never bored."

The family have over four million followers on TikTok, who love to see how mum Alicia organises her busy household.

To help with meal preparation and shopping she puts together a meal plan and builds a shopping list based on that.

Meals include spaghetti, chicken fajitas and paella. The mum tries to keep things exciting by theming her days. Mondays are 'Around the World' days where the family try a dish from a different culture and Friday's are deemed 'Waffle Day'.

As much as followers love to see how the mum stays organised, most of them still remain baffled.

"How do you have time to do all this, laundry, clean house, take care of the littles, post here? How??!? Do you have a 450 hours a day?" one mum commented on her Instagram page.

Another wrote: "I love this. Your kids are fed so well but most importantly they are loved so well."
