Laura Byrne forced to defend husband Matty J over vasectomy stance: 'Let's not jump'
Laura Byrne has been forced to defend husband Matty J over comments she made about his reluctance to have a vasectomy after they welcome their third child later this year.
During a recent episode of The Pick Up on KIIS 106.5, Byrne told co-host and best friend Britt Hockley she had raised the subject with her husband of almost three years and was shocked at his response, which she shared with listeners.
Byrne again talked about the topic during yesterday's Life Uncut podcast, but has since taken to the podcast's Instagram page to defend her husband, whose real name is Matty Johnson, following a social media backlash that saw him labelled a "pussy and a loser''.

Byrne and Johnson met and fell in love on the 2017 season of The Bachelor Australia. They moved in together the following year and welcomed two daughters, Marlie-Mae and Lola, before marrying in November 2022.
Byrne announced on her podcast in April they were expecting their third child later this year, and has since revealed they were having another girl whom they would call Poppy.
She first raised the matter of Johnson being reluctant to get a vasectomy on the August 7 episode of The Pick-Up, and then raised the matter again on her podcast yesterday.
"I'm currently pregnant with my third child, and we're both very much on the same page that this is going to be our last baby," she said.

"So knowing that this is going to be our last one, I went home and had the conversation with Matt my husband, and I was like, 'How do you feel about getting a vasectomy after this?'
"I genuinely thought that he would be like, 'Yeah, 100 per cent, I've already got it booked in'. I actually thought he would have jumped through hoops to go and get it done.
"I was surprised by his resistance to it. He said, 'I don't know how I feel about that'.
"I was like, well, 'Do you want to have more kids? Are we not calling it at three?' And he was like, 'I don't know, not about the kids thing, I just feel weird about getting a vasectomy'.
"He goes, 'I just don't know about the long-term effects,' and I was like, 'Sorry, the long-term effects of what? Of the lack of pregnancies?'
"And he was like, 'Well, you know, just like the effects on your body.' And I was like, 'Oh you're erring into territory that you don't want to go into'.
"Also, secondly, if we're going to talk about the effects on your body, I was like, 'How about we talk about the 17 years that I was on the pill for, then talk about the three pregnancies, and then talk about menopause? How about we have that conversation?'"

Four hours after sharing a clip from the podcast on the show's Instagram page, Byrne was forced to write a lengthy statement to defend Johnson, who co-hosts the Two Doting Dads podcast with Ash Wicks, and address "a lot of assumptions".
"Firstly, Matt absolutely plays his part in contraception. He is happy to wear a condom," she wrote, adding, "I am the one who would prefer he doesn't wear one.
"I also don't want another baby, nor do I want to go on contraception.
"But if a man is happy to take responsibility for his part in contraception by wearing a condom, let's not jump to calling him a pussy and a loser because he shares reservations around getting the snip.
"Secondly, I understand this is a triggering conversation as so many women have experienced men not taking any responsibility and expecting women to front the load for everything in terms of contraception.
"However, this is not the case in my relationship, so please keep that in mind."
