Mum's budget babyproofing hack works as a quick fix - but not everyone is convinced it'll actually hold up

It's so exciting when your baby starts moving around and starting to crawl or pull to stand – but it also makes you realise how badly you need to babyproof your house. 

One minute you leave them lying on a mat, and the next you look up and they're trying to pull on the cable of something or reaching up to grab a handle on a drawer. 

So, one mum has found a very creative – and budget-friendly – hack for baby-proofing her cupboards, but not everyone is so sure it would work.

Canadian mum Jules explained her husband was looking into baby-proofing and found the hack online. All you need is some velcro Command strips, used for hanging pictures. 

"We already had these velcro strips in the house so decided to give it a try and WOW," she captioned the video. 

"This is the perfect solution to baby proofing without ugly plastic parts everywhere!! You can also leave your cupboards closed but not fully adhered to the velcro for easy opening when your little troublemaker isn't around!"

Jules added that she was excited about it, but joked "stay tuned to see how this holds up through toddlerhood".

With a packet of four strips costing around $7.50 from most places, like your local supermarket, it's worth a try if you need a quick fix. 

"OK trying this!" commented one mum.

Another replied, "That is brilliant."

"Why are Command strips the solution to almost everything," replied another person. 

But others laughed that there was no way these little strips could hold up against their toddlers. 

"Lol – that's funny for us – our little one has broken the kid gate & a few of the magnetic locks – she pulls so hard – this wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds with her," replied one mum.

Another added, "My 20mo can open the freezer drawer on our fridge... So that's probably not really going to work as long as you need it to

And while some people were skeptical, Jules had this to say, "To those in the comments worried about the security of these.. does your baby actually let you leave their sight??"
