'My best friend's dad': The unlikely baby name trend tipped to be big in 2025
There are plenty of ways you can go when it comes to looking for baby name inspiration.
But one trend that's gaining popularity will have you thinking about your best friend's dad.
Yep, turns out the names of older blokes, which seem far more familiar in the setting of a pub or on the golf course on a Thursday afternoon, are the hot new trend.
Earlier this month US baby name consultant Colleen Slagen shared her prediction that old-fashioned boys' names, which she likes to call 'My best friend's dad's name,' will be the next big thing in 2025.
We've dug up some inspiration for this trend – scroll through to see the names.

Andrew
Andrew is a boy's name of Greek origin meaning "strong and manly", which could be a big reason why it's so timeless.
But, while it is more like your friend's dad's name, it lends itself to some fabulous nicknames that will grow with your little lad over his lifetime.
Think: Andy and Drew, which add a bit more of a youthfulness to it.
Arthur
Arthur is another one of those classic names we're used to seeing in older generations, but it's due for a resurgence.
It's a name that sits in the top lists across Australia, New Zealand, England, Canada and France, which is not hard to see why.
It has the perfect mix of classic but cool, which a lot of parents are looking for these days.
Craig
When was the last time you met a baby named Craig? Well, unless you're in your 60s, probably not recently.
But, it is another name that slips right into this trend and could very well start climbing up the ranks again.
The name is of Scottish origin meaning "from the rocks", and while it's just scraping into the Top 1000 in the US, it could be worth putting on your list.
Darryl
Another name overheard more at the pub than a preschool these days is Darryl.
It's got that real Aussie 'bloke' feeling to it, but it also has its own unique charm for a baby name too.
If it's too bold for you, why not consider it for a middle name?
Graham
Graham might start to shoot back up the charts, thanks to former Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz.
The actress recently welcomed her second bub and revealed his name is Graham.
It's definitely not on the Top 10 lists, but makes a perfect argument for picking names outside of those top lists.
Ian
Ian!
It's safe, it's timeless and it's classic.
The name is of Scottish origin meaning "God is gracious".
There's something about the name that just sits in a sweet spot. Since the 1980s it's hung around the Top 100, but never really cracks the top half of the list.
Gregory
When it comes to dad names, Gregory is up there.
Now, it's the kind of name that was big until the '90s, which is why there aren't too many Gregs in pre-schools right now, but it's got all the potential for a great name.
It's got a modern feel and nails the old-is-new-again trend, paired with a lovely meaning of "vigilant, a watchman".
John
If you're looking for a classic boys name that isn't in the Top 10, you cannot go past John.
It's existed for centuries, meaning there's so much history behind it, but it's also got the potential for a killer nickname.
Johnny works well, or you could mix it up with your initial for your surname and be JB, JC, whatever works.
Kevin
This is definitely not one of those talked-about baby names, but it has the potential to be big.
Sure, it's not in the Top 100, or in some countries even in the Top 1000, but hey, could be the name for you?
With so many famous Kevins – including Kevin Costner, who big Yellowstone fans will have a lot of feelings about right now – why not go for it?
