Woman ordered to give album of racy photos to ex-husband as part of divorce settlement

A woman in the US has been ordered hand over a album of nude photos of herself to her ex-husband, in a shock court ruling

Lindsay Marsh, who was married to Chris Marsh for 25 years, filed for divorce in April 2021.

The pair were battling it out in Davis County Court to divorce and a property settlement when the order was made.

The photos, filled with boudoir-style photos, were a gift to her ex-husband and include loving messages written by her. She told The Salt Lake Tribune she feels violated by the decision.

"That's even violating," Lindsay Marsh said, "because these are things that were sensual and loving that I wrote to my husband that I loved. You're my ex-husband now."

In an attempt to address Marsh's concerns about her ex-husband having naked photos of her in his possession, the judge ordered that edits be made to the pictures.

2nd District Judge Michael Edwards wrote in a ruling shared with the publication: "That person is to do whatever it takes to modify the pages of the pictures so that any photographs of [Lindsay Marsh] in lingerie or that sort of thing or even without clothing are obscured and taken out."

However when she took them to the original photographer, they refused to make the edits. She has now been left with no choice but to take them to a third party for the changes.

Marsh said she called the court to clarify the ruling, asking: "I just want to clarify. The judge has ordered me to give nude photos of my body to a third party that I don't know without my consent?"

Upon hearing of the judge's order, the original photographer agreed to do the edits after all, placing large, black boxes over parts of her body. The notes remain in tact.

Marsh claims the remainder of their property settlement was agreed upon, with the boudoir album the only possession her ex-husband fought for and says, despite the changes, still feels violated.

In a statement to The Salt Lake Tribute, Chris Marsh explained he wanted to keep the album as a way of cherishing "the loving memories we had for all those years."

She said she is sharing her story as a warning to others who may face a similar ruling.

"It's violating and it's incredibly embarrassing and humiliating," she said. "The only way I can hopefully protect someone else from going through the same situation is to tell my story and expose that these are the types of things that he thinks are OK."
