The epic move taking over Aussie sporting events
It seems that the days of sporting events focusing solely on the sport are gone, as organisers come up with more ways to draw in new audiences.
This year, the Melbourne Cup Carnival, just like the F1, Aussie footy finals and the Australian Open, is bringing in some big name performers to appeal to a new group of fans.
"This is the thing, not everyone who goes to these sporting events likes the sport," Lizzie Pearl told Clint Stanaway on Weekend Today.

"A lot of people, [take the] Super Bowl for example, think it's a football game around a concert or whatever. So yes, it does pay off.
"I think you need to have something for everyone."
Media commentator Carmen Braidwood seconded Pearl's statement, explaining that sporting events are now seen as entertainment meccas.
"It makes complete sense and I'm all for it, I'm in the same camp as you, Lizzie," she explained.
"I started my career working in a place called Kalgoorlie and during Cup Day I forgot there were horses in Kalgoorlie."
The Victoria Racing Club revealed the star-studded line up for this year's Melbourne Cup Carnival just one month before the event was set to begin.
Noughties star Anastacia, best known for her hits including I'm Outta Love and Left Outside Alone, is kicking things off at Penfolds Victoria Derby Day today, with her set followed by a performance from DJ Sam Feldt.

The week will continue with a performance from Murder on the Dancefloor icon songstress Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who will already be Down Under to support Take That on the Australian leg of their tour.
Then Ronan Keating will be the headlining act on Thursday November 7 for Crown Oaks Day.
There's some local talent on the lineup too, with electronic duo Empire of the Sun, On My Own singer Ricki-Lee Coulter, rock band The Temper Trap and pop singer Mia Wray all set to take to the stage.
