Father sends long list of 'very, very personal' questions about daughter's new boyfriend

A woman in the US has shared a list of 20 questions her father has sent about her new boyfriend ahead of their first meeting.

Uzo Njoku, 28, shared the list on X, which she is expected to be able to answer before introducing them.

"My dad sent me a 20 question pdf about my boyfriend that I have to answer before I can introduce them," she wrote on the platform, adding, "Nigerian fathers."

She explains she "removed some of the very very personal questions" before sharing them online before joking, "They want me to be single for the rest of my life."

The list of questions is titled: "Questions requiring honest and verifiable answers."

They begin innocently enough.

The fathers asks for some of the man's "important personal stories" that "shaped who he is today" before asking where he went to school and if he graduated.

It's question three that begins to get a little more personal, with the concerned dad asking if the man has a "family history of diabetes mellitus, blood disorders, sickle cell traits, sickle cell disease and cancers". He also asks about "past surgical procedures".

Question six delves into his dating history, asking "how many girls he dated prior to you".

Then it's back to health concerns with the protective father wanting to know if he "smokes cigarettes" or "drinks alcohol". If he does drink alcohol, the dad wants to know how much and how often. He also asks if the man uses illegal drugs.

Question seven starts to delve into the basics, asking what he does for a living, who does he live with and why "did he break up with his last girlfriend".

Question 10 sweetly enquires if the man makes the woman "feel supported and safe". Finally, the father asks what she likes "most and least about him".

By the point, everyone on X wants to know the answers to all these questions too.

"Half the questions are medical history and blood work. omg," the woman writes on X, explaining this is the first time she has attempted to introduce a boyfriend to her dad.

One X user commented: "Lucky daughter: your parents love you and want you to be happy! Generally you yourself ought to be serious about this, even more so if you happen to be AS or have some other medical marker that could affect children."

"Your daddy loves you girl," another said.

One X user said: "Please share pdf so I can save for reference when I have my daughters."

"Very important to know your partner's medical history especially if you're thinking long term. He is a caring father looking out for his baby girl," another said.

"We need more intentional fathers like your dad out there. Trust me, he want the best for you," added another.

One X user commented: "Smart smart man. A lot of people don't think about that stuff and it's very important."

Another suggested she "get to work" on the extensive list.

"It actually makes sense he's just looking out for his daughter," another said.
