Restaurant customer leaves nasty message for server in 'tip' section of receipt

A customer has written a rude message on a receipt in the section where a monetary tip is supposed to be added.

A copy of the receipt has been shared on Reddit's 'I Am A Total Piece Of S--t' thread. It shows the order totaling $12.00.

In the tip section, a rude message is scrawled for the customer's server, reading simply: "Lose weight."

"I was a waitress for years and would get at least 3 receipts per night that had some kind of stupidity on it. Usually it said 'smile more,'" one Redditer shared.

"I've seen some pretty rude things written on tickets before. It's very rare but it does happen where I am," another commented.

One Aussie Redditer recalled: "In Australia so no tips but someone once wrote "fat bicht" on a table in tomato sauce for me. Yes, it was spelled like that."

"I had a customer write, 'don't eat yellow snow' as my tip, so I believe all of these lol," another shared.

One Redditer remarks: "I love waitresses, I don't care about their weight. My water cup yes."

Another admitted: "this would ruin my week I'm not ashamed to admit it."

One person defended the customer.

"I might get some flak for this but here goes. I don't think it's bad to call people out for being fat. I was called fat and it gave me further motivation to lose weight," they explained.

"For some who can't take the social pressure, it is counterproductive to their mental health being called fat. But it is counterproductive to everyone's health to be fat. It is rude, but ultimately it's the lesser evil."

Another said: "It's always bad to personally insult someone who is just trying to do their job. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean it always needs to be heard."
