Local grinch complains about neighbour’s Christmas display

There’s nothing better than taking in the bright lights and fun setups of neighbourhood Christmas displays, but one US woman received an angry letter from a neighbour about her front yard display.

Diana Rowland, who lives in Mandeville, Louisiana, took a unique spin on the festive spirit by setting up three huge, inflatable dragons in her front yard.

The bright, light-up display is the perfect mix of odd and hilarious, but one of her neighbours didn’t see things that way.

A note turned up on her front doorstep condemning the dragons and making some very odd accusations.

”Your dragon display is only marginally acceptable at Halloween,” the note read, “It is totally inappropriate at Christmas.”

“It makes your neighbours wonder if you are involved in a demonic cult.”

We can’t speak for anyone, but the dragons don’t seem very satanic if the photos are anything to go by.

The note urged Rowland to remove the dragons and finished with, “May God bless you and help you to know the true meaning of Christmas.”

While the outlandish suggestion of cult involvement may have frustrated some, but Rowland seemed to find the whole situation amusing.

“Our dragon holiday display got fan mail,” Rowland wrote in a Facebook post where she shared the note.

She also took aim at the hypocrisy of the person who sent the note.

“Apparently the ‘true meaning of Christmas’ involves judgemental b------t?”

People in the comments supported her.

“I think they’re wonderful!” wrote one.

“Keep them up,” replied another, “I would love to join your dragon cult.”

And as for the instructions to remove the dragons?

Rowland revealed in a Tweet that she’s recently added two more.

And these ones are wearing Santa hats and holding presents, so surely the neighbours will be happy now!
