Special family member helps grandma win nursing home Christmas competition with cheeky sign

A grandmother in the US has won a Christmas decorating competition at her nursing home with the help of her devoted granddaughter.

Connie Miller decided to take part in the competition, run by Edgewood Heights nursing home, which asked residents to decorate the doors to their rooms with festive features.

Miller, 78, looked for ideas online and when she'd decided on her design, she asked her granddaughter Kelsie Cloak for help executing it.

Cloak, 27, was happy to help, showcasing their handiwork in a TikTok video.

"Granny better win," she said alongside the video.

In the video, we see Cloak adding painstaking details to her grandmother's design which shows the nursing home resident posing next to a giant candy cane.

A photo of Miller's head is fastened to an image of a dancer in a short red dress and black fishnet stockings next to the candy cane.

"North Pole Dancer," the door reads it says on top of the image. Underneath it says, "Connie Lou Who."

"I already had all the supplies needed because I have a side business painting banners and other things," Cloak, told PEOPLE.

"So I went to my craft room, packed up everything, and me, my mom, and my two little girls headed to the nursing home."

She said the design took two-and-a-half hours to execute.

Cloak said her grandmother was delighted with the result.

"She was laughing so hard, which made it even better! She made the comment about how she didn't like that her picture didn't have makeup," Cloak says.

"So I added some fake eyelashes to the photo to make her feel better!"

She said nursing home staff also got a "huge laugh".

Cloak posted the TikTok video before the winner of the competition was announced. Her followers asked to hear if they had won and she told them they had, much to their delight.

"She won!!!" she said.

"This is the greatest thing I have ever seen," another said.

"I bet that door gets a lot of repeat drive-by traffic," commented another.

"This is awesome," another said. "She is going to be the coolest granny ever!"

"Love granny's name," another said.

"I can't love this enough," added another.

"This is absolutely awesome," another said.

Another asked to "see all the other doors."

Cloak explained her grandmother used to work at the nursing home she resides in, which is why they went to so much effort.

"I hope people can see that it means a lot to your grandparents when you visit them and do fun things with them," she added.
