Chelsea Clinton admits why she's no longer friends with Ivanka Trump: 'No interest'

Chelsea Clinton has addressed her past friendship with Ivanka Trump, saying that she has "no interest" in maintaining a relationship with President Donald Trump's daughter.

Chelsea, daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, opened up about her former friend on during an appearance on Thursday.

While appearing on US talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the host asked Chelsea what happened to her "friendship" with Ivanka.

"I've not spoken to her since 2016," Chelsea said.

"I have no interest in being friends with someone who is not only complicit but actively taking part in this administration's everyday collision of cruelty and incompetence. So that's the answer."

She added that though she and Ivanka had been in touch around the time President Donald Trump began his campaign in 2016, that connection soon ended.

"It's just really hard when there's someone who's actively embracing their candidate – whether it's their father or not – who is trafficking in racism and sexism and antisemitism and Islamophobia and homophobia and transphobia and conspiracy theories and lies and is so fundamentally corrupt," Chelsea said.

The former first daughter clarified that she wasn't suggesting Ivanka held the same beliefs as her father, but said that she is "complicit" in the President's policies and attitudes.

"I just don't want to be friends with someone like that."

Ivanka, who is daughter to President Donald Trump and one of his advisors, has lost more friends than just Chelsea in the four years since her father won the presidency.

According to reports, Ivanka used to be friendly with Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.

However, that all changed when Meghan spoke out against Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign.

During a TV interview, the royal accused him of being "misogynistic" and "divisive", and supported his opponent Hillary Clinton.

Later Donald Trump called the Duchess of Sussex's comments "nasty".

Ivanka has served as a senior advisor to her father since 2017 and advises him on "job creation + economic empowerment, workforce development & entrepreneurship", according to her Twitter bio.

When she first took the role in 2017, ethical concerns were raised about her joining President Trump's White House team, as she had limited political experience and is directly related to him.
