CEO under fire for asking employees to donate paid days off to sick colleague
The internet is furious after a CEO from an unnamed company reached out to his employees, asking them to donate their own paid time off to an employee in need.
A picture of the notice shared on Reddit, addressed to employees read, "We have a long-term employee of 17 years from our dietary department who has been in the hospital and rehab for several months.
"She has exhausted all her paid time off days, and her benefits are running out. As you can imagine, this has been quite the drain on her family's income.

The CEO asked for people to donate their own days off. Reddit
"If there is anyone who would like to donate one or more days of their paid time off, please let [management] know in writing of your intent. Thank you for your consideration."
Though the note seems polite in nature, commenters quickly pointed out the hypocrisy of the request.
"President & CEO could also donate their time off. Did they though?" one commenter pointedly asked.

"Paid time off is not some finite resource limited by law or nature so the transaction does not have to be zero sum - just give the person the extra time off if you are truly the CEO," one provided a solution.
"I've never seen a CEO or manager take a pay hit or PTO hit to help out an employee. They always ask other employees to compensate for each other and then present it like this great charitable empathetic act for putting the poster in the break room," said another.
Another commenter found another issue with the sign, "What an invasion of privacy. Some simple math and deduction of reasoning of who is still showing up and suddenly you know way more than you should about an employees health issue. If I was the mentioned employee I would be embarrassed and furious."
