Reporter sexually harassed during broadcast: 'It needs to stop'

A journalist in Canada has shared footage of herself being verbally abused at work.

Video journalist Krista Sharpe from the city of Kitchener, Ontario, was recording a piece to camera in the street when a person drove past and shouted abuse.

She shared the video on Twitter, saying it made her "feel like s---".

"This is not funny and it's not cool. As much as I'd love to say it doesn't bother me, it does," she said.

"It makes me feel like s---. Especially as VJ who is always alone. This still happens to female reporters everywhere and it needs to stop."

The video has been viewed more than three million times.

Police told the TV channel, CBA, they are investigating the incident.

Local Police Chief Bryan M Larkin wrote that it was "unacceptable, vulgar and offensive".

"No one should be subjected to hate and bullying within workplace," he said.

The video had a strong reaction on Twitter.

One woman replied: "I wonder if men ever think about how unsafe this makes women feel."

Another said: "Keep sharing, maybe one day they'll be shamed out of existence."

Another journalist, Penny Daflos replied, saying: "This is harassment at the workplace and should be handled the same way as a postal worker or teacher or healthcare worker faced with such comments."

Others called it "despicable" and "disgusting"

However one person told her to "toughen up".
