British TV presenter Nicci Roscoe's ongoing battle with near-fatal brain tumour

Former British TV presenter Nicci Roscoe has spoken about the lingering effects of her battle with a near-fatal brain tumour, the symptoms of which were initially blamed on stress.

At the time Roscoe was a regular on Sky, the BBC and GMTV.

Roscoe, now 62, said she began experiencing symptoms during a radio segment in the late 1990s.

"I was on my regular slot on Viva Radio when I would occasionally utter a different word to the one I wanted to say," she told OK! magazine

'It was a very strange feeling and quite frightening not being able to get out the words I wanted.' Instagram

She visited with a doctor who diagnosed stress.

Then, in 2001, Roscoe says she was at a supermarket when she became immobilised with pain. It was then that she underwent a brain scan which found the tumour.

"The next day I was sitting in the neurosurgeon's office and he told me I had a golf ball sized benign tumour that was deeply embedded in my brain," she recalled, adding that the tumour was near the part of her brain that controlled speech, balance, co-ordination and memory.

'My neurosurgeon said if I didn't have the tumour removed it would continue to grow and I would be like a vegetable.' Instagram

"My neurosurgeon said if I didn't have the tumour removed it would continue to grow and I would be like a vegetable within two years and dead within five," she explained.

The tumour was removed and three titanium bolts fastened in her head.

Roscoe said to this day she still suffers pain.

Her health crisis lead to a career change which saw Roscoe begin exploring alternate treatments for chronic pain.

Roscoe, who now works as a Life Coach and Master NLP Practitioner (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and runs her own company, called Mind Medication.

Through this she shares all her knowledge about alternate health treatments including Reiki, crystal healing and meditation.

Roscoe spoke at an event for EAGB at The Dorchester in London, explaining that after being told about her brain tumour, she made a 'bucket list' including visiting the gorillas having become inspired by the movie Gorillas in the Mist, and returning to national TV.

She has since achieved both goals and now also works as a motivational speaker.
