Becky Jefferies had everything planned for her wedding day, down to the very last detail.

The Dubai-based bride got married in September 2021 and was both thrilled and relieved to finally walk down the aisle after COVID-19 forced her to postpone it several times.

Her custom dress, designed by Galia Lahav, had a stunning removable overskirt and Jefferies had "nightmares" about forgetting to wear it when she stood next to her groom, Sherif Fayed.

Speaking to 9Honey, Jefferies revealed the worst-case-scenario came true when it was time for the vows. Half her dress was missing so she stopped her wedding ceremony mid-way through to retrieve it.

"As soon as I realised what happened there was no question in my mind that I was going to grab the mic. I just wanted to wait until the officiant finished his speech," Jefferies explained.

"I also knew that my husband would have told me I was crazy for not stopping the ceremony if I hadn't done it."

She added: "There was truly no harm done by the interruption. The vows were just as special and memorable because we had the chance to calm down, laugh with everyone, and gather ourselves before saying them.

Jefferies shared a video online of the exact moment she realised she made a "terrible mistake" and her dress was missing a vital component.

Just as she and Fayed were about to exchange vows, she grabbed the mic and made an announcement.

"Pause for a moment," she told her husband-to-be and guests. "I just realised when I got to the end of the aisle that I'm missing half my dress. Maybe I could put it on now?"

"I'm not kidding, two nights ago I had a dream that I did this, that I walked down the aisle without it."

After several moments, Jefferies' wedding planner raced up the aisle to attach her stunning tulle overskirt and train.

"Okay, we can resume," the relieved bride told her laughing guests.

Jefferies says she would have been "devastated" if she didn't remember to attach the rest of her dress mid-vows.

Her skirt attachment was made by a seamstress in Dubai and she had only planned to wear it for the ceremony and photos.

"Every girl puts a lot of time and effort into planning her 'look' for the wedding day," she says.

"After all I went through to get the skirt made it would have been a pretty big let-down if I realised it after the fact."

She added: "There was no other option in my head. As soon as I noticed it, I was like, 'That's it, I just need to wait for the right moment to grab the mic!'".

As she said in the video of the ceremony, Jefferies admits she had nightmares about forgetting key details for her big day.

The newlywed says she forgot the skirt because it had been placed in a storage room with her purse and other belongings, as she didn't want to wrinkle it while getting ready.

"One of my recurring nightmares was forgetting something important on the wedding day, whether it was putting makeup on, my veil, or the overskirt," she says.

"I was so excited to finally get the overskirt right, but I also had this fear of something not working out with it."

Although Jefferies recalls feeling "mortified" when she had to pause the ceremony, she doesn't regret it one bit.

"I was mortified in the midst of that 'oh sh–—' moment at the time, I love that it happened this way because it made it so memorable. And it really did break the ice for everyone," she says happily.

"It was such a genuine moment and gave us something to look back on with laughter. One of the highlights of the day! And even though I didn't enter the ceremony with it on, I at least got to exit with the full look."

After Jefferies posted footage of the moment she stopped her wedding on TikTok, it quickly went viral and has since attracted over 28 million views.

The bride was "shocked" at first but she is glad her special moment can be shared with millions of other people.
