Bill and Melinda Gates' daughter Jennifer shares happy news

The eldest child of former power couple Bill and Melinda Gates has shared happy news on Instagram.

Jennifer Gates is expecting her first child with husband Nayel Nassar. The couple were married in October 2021, just five months after Jennifer's parents finalised their divorce after 27 years of marriage. This will be Bill and Melinda Gates's first grandchild.

Jennifer, 26, and Nassar posted a two photos showing Jennifer's baby bump along with the caption: "Thankful." They added a green heart and a baby bottle emoji.

In the first photo we see the pair posing outdoors, leaning against a rock wall with Jennifer's baby bump clearly showing and in the second photo she is solo, looking down at her belly.

While a due date hasn't been shared, Jennifer appears to be approximately six months along meaning the baby will be due in early 2023.

Jennifer and Nassar met on the equestrian circuit where they both competed. They were married on Jennifer's horse farm in Westchester County in North Salem, located around 80 kilometres north of Manhattan.

The 50-hectare farm is understood to have been purchased for Jennifer, who is an equestrian, by her parents in 2018 as a graduation present for around $21 million.

Ahead of the nuptials Jennifer shared the following Instagram post which read: "The bride-to-be shared her joy in Instagram writing: "Nayel Nassar, you are one of a kind. Absolutely swept me off my feet this past weekend, surprising me in the most meaningful location over one of our many shared passions.

"I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives learning, growing, laughing and loving together. Yes a million times over."

On his own page Nayel wrote: "I'm feeling like the luckiest (and happiest) man in the world right about now".

"Jenn, you are everything I could have possibly imagined..and so much more. I can't wait to keep growing together through this journey called life, and I simply can't imagine mine without you anymore."
