Two Australian women have discovered someone living in their unused garage. The pair made the discovery when one of the women was retrieving items ahead of moving out.

That woman, Kate Dood, has shared the terrifying experience on TikTok, explaining she and her roommate thought they were "pranking each other" before calling the police for help.

"So we had someone living in our garage and we had no idea," Dood explained in a TikTok video which has been viewed over 737,000 times.

Dood said when she was asked to retrieve her items from the garage, she explained whatever was in there wasn't hers as she was too scared to enter the space due to spiders.

Curious, they decided to investigate it together.

"We went down there together to have a look to see what was going on," she continued. "Low and behold, someone was living there."

"We never saw the person in there at this time, but you can see their slippers under this couch that was already there, plus a sleeping bag and a bucket," Dood said. "Lots of other bits and bobs that pointed out to someone being there."

In addition to the slippers there were outfits, shoes, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a bucket and some towels.

The women suspect the squatter was there for months.

"The police ended up locking the garage and putting a sign up to basically say, 'Hey, you can come and grab your stuff but call us and we will do that,'" Dood said. "And, of course, that person was never going to call."

The next day they saw a woman approach the garage and angrily pull the sign off the garage.

"The next day we saw her pull the sign off the garage door and obviously storm away," she said.

What shocked them the most is the fact the woman was "well-dressed" and didn't appear to be someone who would be homeless.

"Let me tell you, this woman was so incredibly dressed, so savvy – props to her for finding a place that was not getting used at all and using it," Dood said.

"The audacity she had though, to be mad that she was being kicked out," one person commented.

"Why didn't you leave her stuff outside of the garage," another said.

"Lol, sounds like Anna Delvy," one joked.
