'Clinically dead for eight minutes': Aussie recalls moment she suffered cardiac arrest front row at an Adele concert

An Aussie woman has recalled how she suffered a cardiac arrest while front row at an Adele concert.

Megan Nicholson, from Kirrawee in New South Wales, was clinically dead for eight minutes during the 2017 incident which understandably brought the show to a halt.

The Sydney grandmother, who was 47 at the time, now has a sense of humour about what happened as she told her story on Nova's Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Richie.

"I was front row at the Adele concert in 2017. I levelled myself and went face down," she said, referring to the gig at Sydney's Olympic Park in Homebush.

"It was really unfortunate that Hello From The Other Side was playing as I'm laying there dead in the stadium at Homebush.

"They stopped the concert and wheeled me out."

Nicholson added that "fortunately, there was a cardiac doctor three rows behind who gave me CPR."

Nicholson was in a coma for six days at Sydney's Westmead Hospital following her medical emergency.

Her family were told to prepare to get her affairs in order should the worst happen.

"I was out [dead] for eight minutes – I think the longest anyone's ever been out is 12 minutes," she continued.

When she woke up, it turned out she didn't lose her sense of humour, asking for some "wonton soup" as soon as she regained consciousness.

"They said, 'You have an SVT', I said, 'Oh my God, is that sexually transmitted?'" she joked as the hosts laughed.

"They went, 'No, it's the super ventricular tachycardia.'"

With the mother not having any heart disease, the medical team finally determined that she had gone into arrest from an arrhythmia, which usually only happens to elite athletes.

"I was a bit chubby at the time around 90 kilos, so they ruled that out pretty quick!" Megan said.

"I'm still best friends with the doctor who saved me. It made worldwide news."

She's now "fully recovered" seven years on.

Nicholson also shared that Adele reached out to her after the incident.

"She sent flowers, and her PR team rang my daughter and said, 'Look, we can't get through' because the hospital had blocked the media because it was reported that I died," she added.
