Aussie radio host Ali Clarke confirms return to airwaves after cancer diagnosis

Adelaide radio host Ali Clarke will return to the airwaves tomorrow just weeks after undergoing treatment for cancer.

The Mix 102.3 host revealed last month she has been diagnosed "really early" with breast cancer

Earlier today, the popular personality visited the team at the Max and Ali in the Morning show to provide an update on her health and next steps.

"I'm good. I'm being really jealous, because it's time for me to get out into the real world, because I realised in the last few days, especially, that I am turning into a not very healthy person in my mind, so it's so it's so good to see your smiling faces," Clarke said.

She then joked that she is going stir crazy at home and how she's "exhausted Netflix's viking series".

Clarke also joked how she wished she'd been on air during the Paris Olympics coverage, particularly for the performance of one Australian athlete.

"Oh, my God, watching Ray-Gun on the Olympics. I'm like, let me on air," she joked, referring to breaking star Rachael Gunn.

Clarke's co-host Max Burford continued the tongue-in-cheek banter before asking her a pointed question.

"So she's finished Netflix and she's actually getting pretty close to finishing Wikipedia," he joked.

"Well what do you reckon now that you are starting to go stir crazy, are you feeling you want to come back to work?"

Clarke, a mum of three, was ready for the set-up.

"Tomorrow morning at 6am I will be back on air," she replied.

Clarke shared her cancer diagnosis with listeners in July.

"It was important to tell our listeners because I have had the privilege of them trusting me with their stories and so I trust them with mine," she said.

"I wanted them to hear it from me, in my words and give them a chance to ask anything they want."

She said her diagnosis was made after she was found to have a "lot of small little cancers" after initially believing it was "very small and manageable".

The host also talked about undergoing a necessary mastectomy, admitting the idea of it has been "much more confronting than I ever thought it will be".

"I've really battled with myself between being angry at myself for almost feeling vain about losing a part of me," she told listeners.

"But when I sit back and try to reason with it, I'm about to lose a part of me that society has forever told me actually makes me a woman," she said.

During her treatment, Clarke kept fans up to date with her progress.

"For those playing along at home, things have gone well and the kids were fighting over my jelly within 5 minutes of them arriving to visit yesterday," she wrote in an Instagram post dated July 27.

"I have been absolutely overwhelmed by everyone's kindness and care - and thank you to those who have made me feel less alone by sharing your stories."

Clarke shares three children with husband Matthew Clarke, who is the ALFW Adelaide Crows Coach.

The radio host is also an ambassador for Minda, the Ovarian Cancer Challenge.
